Preparing Your Fleet for an Inspection
Inspections go more smoothly when vehicles and records are already in a known place. This is a general organization list, not a claim about what an inspector will ask for.
Vehicles
- Know which units are on the yard versus on the road
- Walk obvious defects: lights, tires, leaks, and damage already on a list
- Confirm the cab packet your company uses is actually in the truck
Records you can reach quickly
Have a current roster and a way to pull recent maintenance or inspection dates without opening ten inboxes. If dates live in a spreadsheet, print or export a copy the day before so you are not searching on a phone in the lot.
If something is overdue or a truck is down, know that before someone else finds it. Surprises are worse than an honest status.
Inspection rules vary. This is not a legal checklist and does not describe every item an inspector may review. Treat it as an organizational aid.
